National and International Achievements
Sara’s competitive prowess became evident when she clinched the title of Iranian Women’s Chess Champion in 2015. She had previously won the second title at the World Youth Chess Championship in 2014, solidifying her reputation as a rising star. Her participation in international events saw her representing Iran on numerous occasions, where she faced some of the world’s strongest players.
In the 2016 Women’s Chess Grand Prix held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, Sara was the only Iranian representative by the sixth round. Her performance in the tournament was remarkable, and she went on to finish second in the Grand Prix held in Tehran the same year. During this event, she displayed immense sportsmanship by agreeing to a draw when her opponent was in a compromised mental state, earning her a nomination for the 2016 Ethics Award. She also secured third place in the Russian Grand Prix that year.
Her international standing continued to grow when she competed in the 2018 World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship in St. Petersburg, Russia. Sara finished second in the rapid section, scoring an impressive 9 out of 12 points. In the blitz category, she managed to score 13 out of 17 points, again securing the runner-up position. Despite two second-place finishes, she ultimately won the overall Blitz title in 2018, a career-defining moment that solidified her status as one of the top female chess players in the world.
