A Patient Who Has Been Hospitalized in the Psychiatric Ward for 20 Years

The head of the psychiatric ward of Pardis One says: “In this ward, the age of patients starts from 37 years, and we also have elderly patients.” Sofi adds: “Our oldest patient has been living here for 20 years.”

Ten iron beds are placed side by side in the rooms, and the floors of the rooms and corridors do not have carpets, considering the long stay of the patients and their physical health. The head of Pardis One adds: “The floors are washed regularly. It is true that these patients are chronic and have to stay here for a long time, but this is not a nursing home; it is a treatment center.”

The head of Pardis One says: “A hairdresser comes for these patients weekly.” Sofi adds: “These patients take a bath twice a week.”

Faces That Change

The way they speak and walk, and even the faces of most patients hospitalized in Pardis One, are slightly different from others, although their behavior is almost normal. The head of the first ward of the campus explains: “These patients are mostly controlled; a patient who has lived here for 20 years and is taking medication no longer has any symptoms of the disease.”

The head of the first ward says: “Those working in psychiatric wards should enjoy the benefits of their hard work.” Sofi adds: “They should be able to retire after 20 years of work, but now our retirement is after 30 years.”
