Ghiaei graduated from the University of Capital in 1947. His education did not end there. He traveled to France and continued his architectural studies at the Paris School of Fine Arts, where he received his DPLG qualification in 1952. His years in Paris were particularly important because France was one of the major centers of architectural education and debate during the period. The experience allowed Ghiaei to become familiar with contemporary European architectural ideas and to develop a professional outlook that he would later bring back to Homeland.
In 1952, the same year that he completed his studies in Paris, Ghiaei won the “Prix de Vienne.” This achievement contributed to his professional standing and reflected the level of recognition he had achieved during his education abroad. After completing his studies, he returned to Tehran and established his own architectural office. From that point onward, his professional career developed rapidly and continued until his death in 1985.
The Beginning of His Professional Career
Ghiaei established his architectural office in Tehran in 1953. The timing was significant. Iran was entering an era in which rapid urban development created considerable demand for architects capable of designing modern institutional and commercial buildings. Tehran, in particular, was experiencing enormous physical and social changes.
