Reza Shah welcoming his Crown Prince upon his return from Europe

However, implementing this policy proved extremely difficult. Although the Crown Prince attended classes alongside other students, his position was widely known. Teachers, school administrators, and classmates were aware that he was the future king of Iran. This awareness inevitably influenced their behavior toward him. The authority and prestige associated with his position made it difficult to establish genuine equality within the classroom.

Consequently, Mohammad Reza’s early educational experience contained an important contradiction. On the one hand, his father wanted him to experience ordinary student life and develop the qualities of discipline and cooperation. On the other hand, his royal identity distinguished him from his classmates and made ordinary social relationships difficult to maintain.

This contradiction would remain an important feature of his upbringing. Although Reza Shah attempted to prepare his son for leadership through structured education and discipline, the Crown Prince continued to live within a privileged environment that separated him from many of the experiences of ordinary Iranian society.
