A 5,655-carat emerald crystal, unearthed in Zambia in October, fetched $28.4 million at auction in Singapore in November. Weighing more than 1.1kg (almost 2.4lbs), the emerald has “remarkable clarity and a perfectly balanced golden green hue” according to then-owner, Gemfields.
