Unannounced negotiations between two senior army officers and six religious and secular allies of Ayatollah Khomeini began this afternoon. A source close to the talks reported tonight that “good I progress” was being made toward the es- , tablishment of a joint committee to handle arrival plans and to provide security for the 78-year-old religious leader.
