Iran also claimed that 10,000 Iraqi POWs had “taken refuge in Iran and the International Committee of the Red Cross is aware of them” (Voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran First Program Network 13 July 1994), a claim which Iraq strongly denied (INA 26 July 1994).
