The earliest productions of the persian cinema were mostly commercial romance, comedy and action movies highly-favoured among people. But this profound public interest in the mentioned genres did not stop the Iranian filmmakers from moving forward, instead, it led many of them to the creation of a new movement (persian New Wave – the 1960s) within traditional persian cinema. This movement emerged in response to westernization of the persian culture in addition to the deficiencies and absurdities of the low-quality mainstream productions (known as Film Farsi) that were not a true reflection of the persian society and were negatively affecting the public taste.
