I first photographed The late Queen for the Golden Jubilee in 2002 – and 20 years later, more photographs of her have followed, including the iconic image released on her 96th birthday. It was always such an honour and a privilege to take her portrait, but she was also easy to photograph, especially if there were horses involved. In 2019, I remember The Queen visiting the King’s Troop while they were performing at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. They presented Her Majesty with a horse, a charger that she had given to them a few years earlier. Even though I was behind her, I sensed how she and the charger connected, and with the troopers around us.
