A Historical Study of Tehran’s Traffic Accidents in 1974

In 1974, the bustling city of Tehran faced increasing challenges related to its rapidly growing population and infrastructure. As Iran’s capital expanded both economically and socially, one of the most pressing issues was the dramatic rise in traffic accidents. To address this problem, the city’s traffic police initiated a comprehensive study aimed at identifying the root causes of accidents, the most common offenses leading to collisions, and the times and locations where accidents were most prevalent. The findings of this study were published in the Ettelaat newspaper on November 17, 1974, accompanied by striking photographs that captured the reality of the situation.
