On Monday, December 12, a heartfelt ceremony was held at the Bagh Ziba site to honor veteran artists born in November and December. This gathering, which brought together some of the most respected names in the arts, celebrated the lives, achievements, and challenges of artists who have significantly contributed to the Iranian cultural scene. Among the attendees were Afsar Asadi, an actor, makeup artist, and poet, and Azita Lachini, a veteran actress with a storied life both on and off the screen. The event shone a light on their artistic achievements while also acknowledging their personal struggles, making it an emotional and memorable occasion.

Azita Lachini: A Life of Triumph and Tragedy

Azita Lachini, born on December 16, 1938, in Tehran, has lived a life that exemplifies resilience and dedication. She grew up in the Qavam-od-Doleh market, in the Vazir-e-Nizam Alley area of Tehran. Despite the adversities she faced at an early age, Lachini’s story is one of perseverance. Her first marriage, which took place at a very young age, brought significant hardships. Tragically, her husband passed away when she was just 11 years old, leaving her with a daughter and the pain of losing her infant son. Her young age and lack of support led to further heartbreak when her two-year-old daughter was taken away, forcing Lachini to return to her father’s home and resume her education.
