The Adl family was particularly prominent in Azerbaijan, where several generations possessed substantial agricultural estates and occupied influential social positions. Kamran’s paternal grandfather, Mirza Masoud Adl-ol-Molk, and his great-grandfather, Seyyed Hassan Adl-ol-Molk, were among the wealthy landowners of the region.

The family’s historical importance, however, extended beyond landownership. Its members contributed to the modernization of Iranian institutions during a period when the country was undergoing substantial political and social transformations.

Among the family’s distinguished members was Yahya Adl, a cousin of Kamran’s father, who is widely recognized as the father of modern surgery in Iran. His work helped introduce modern surgical practices and medical education into the Iranian healthcare system.

Another notable relative was Mostafa Adl, a cousin of Kamran’s grandfather, who played a foundational role in establishing Iran’s modern judicial system. His contributions were associated with the transformation of traditional legal institutions into a more systematic and centralized framework.

Kamran’s younger brother, Shahriar Adl, born in Tehran in 1943, also became an internationally respected scholar. Shahriar specialized in archaeology, art history, architecture, and cultural heritage. His research and professional activities contributed significantly to the study and international recognition of Iranian historical monuments.
