Kamran Adl’s photographs from the film *Samad and Sami*Leyla and Lili

By displaying the photograph alongside works from later stages of his career, the exhibition established a visual connection between his childhood curiosity and his mature professional identity.

The inclusion of this early image also emphasized the continuity of his relationship with photography. Across changing political circumstances, professional environments, and artistic interests, the camera remained a central instrument through which he observed and interpreted the world.

Education and Professional Training in France

In 1959, at the age of seventeen, Kamran Adl traveled to Paris to continue his education.

His decision followed a tradition within the Adl family, whose members had frequently pursued education and professional training abroad.

During the twentieth century, France occupied an important position in the educational experiences of many Iranian intellectuals, artists, and professionals. Paris was particularly influential as a center of artistic experimentation, technological development, and cultural exchange.

For Adl, studying in France provided access to modern photographic equipment, advanced processing techniques, and professional working environments that were not yet widely available in Iran.

He enrolled in a vocational technical institute offering the Certificat d’aptitude professionnelle, a qualification designed to provide specialized practical training.
