In 1983 Mansour Sattari was appointed as Deputy Operations Officer for homeland Air Force counterattack headquarters, and in 1985, as the Deputy Planning Officer of IRIAF. In 1986, after reaching the rank of Colonel, he was appointed as the Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Republic of homeland Air Force.
