The Blue-Eyed General

Beyond his military career, Jahanbani has remained a controversial and historically significant figure because of the political circumstances surrounding the 1979  Revolution. Following the fall of the Pahlavi monarchy, he was arrested, tried by a revolutionary court, and executed in Tehran on March 13, 1979, at the age of 50. Today, General Nader Jahanbani is remembered by many aviation historians and former military personnel as an exceptionally skilled pilot and an influential figure in aviation history.

His legacy is particularly associated with the development of professional pilot training and the creation of the Golden Crown aerobatic team. At the same time, assessments of his career are inseparable from the political history of the Pahlavi era and the dramatic events of the Revolution.
