Jahanbani’s career, however, extended far beyond aerobatics. During the 1960s and 1970s, he held a number of important operational and command positions within the Imperial Iranian Air Force. He was involved in pilot training, organizational planning, operational readiness, and the development of professional standards. He also received advanced leadership education, including training associated with the United States Air Force’s command and staff system.
One of his central concerns was the quality of pilot training. Jahanbani believed that advanced aircraft were only as effective as the people operating and maintaining them. Consequently, he emphasized continuous training, physical fitness, technical knowledge, maintenance standards, and combat readiness. He also promoted competitions and exercises designed to test pilots and ground crews under demanding conditions.
