General Nader Jahanbani (1928–1979) was one of the most prominent fighter pilots and senior military officers in the history of Imperial Air Force. Often remembered by the nickname “the Blue-Eyed General,” he became an important figure in the development, modernization, and professionalization of air force during the reign of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi. Born in Tehran on April 16, 1928, Jahanbani came from a distinguished military family.
His father, General Amanullah Jahanbani, was also a senior military officer. Nader pursued his aviation education abroad and developed into an accomplished fighter pilot and military instructor. He served in the Imperial Air Force from approximately 1950 until 1979, eventually attaining the rank of Lieutenant General (Sepahbod).
