Marriage in the film therefore becomes more than a private relationship between two individuals. It is also a social institution controlled by family expectations. The question is not simply whom Minoo loves, but who has the authority to determine whom she should marry.
This theme gives the film a broader significance. The story can be read as an exploration of the gradual movement from unquestioned parental authority toward greater recognition of individual choice. The fact that the story eventually ends with Khan Baba and Changiz consenting to the marriage suggests that reconciliation is possible without completely destroying the family structure.
The ending is particularly important. Reza does not defeat the family in a dramatic or violent manner. Instead, the conflict is ultimately resolved through consent. Khan Baba and Changiz eventually accept the marriage between Reza and Minoo. The resolution implies that personal choice and family approval can eventually coexist.
Reza as the Romantic Protagonist
Reza’s role in the story is defined by persistence. His affection for Minoo is challenged repeatedly, yet he continues to pursue the relationship. His connection with the family through Changiz provides him with an advantage, but it does not guarantee acceptance.
His character can therefore be viewed as a romantic protagonist who must demonstrate sincerity and determination. The obstacles placed before him test whether his feelings are strong enough to survive opposition.
