“They say that Takhti was killed. Takhti was a person who had problems and had sexual problems, impotence, and family problems. He had gone to the Atlantic Hotel for three days. During these three days, he had gone to the court and appointed Kazem Hasibi, one of the leaders of the National Front, as guardian of his son. What does it mean for someone who stays in the hotel for three days and appoints a guardian for his child? It means he intends to kill himself and he killed himself.”
The weekly satirical magazine “Tawfiq” wrote at the time, referring to Takhti’s death: “Takhti committed suicide!”
Jalal Al-Ahmad, who played a major role in the formation of suspicions that SAVAK was responsible for Takhti’s murder, wrote about Takhti’s death on the very first day: “No one in all that crowd thought, even for a moment, about the possibility of suicide. After all, you are a hero and have compensated for the individual and social absences of others by your presence, and then you commit suicide?”
