After the coup of 19 Mordad, Gholamreza Takhti was active in the National Resistance Movement’s Athletes’ Committee in addition to the Socialist Party. After the formation of the Second National Front in 1939, he joined this organisation and was elected to the Congress by the Athletes’ Committee and to the Central Council of the National Front of Iran by the Congress’s electors.
Given Takhti’s interest and involvement in the National Front of Iran, as well as his presidency of the Athletes’ Organisation and membership in the National Front’s Central Council, he made Kazem Hasibi the guardian of his son, Babak. On the day that Mossadegh’s supporters went to Ahmadabad to see him, Takhti led the convoy ahead of them, holding a large photo of Mossadegh in his hand. Gholamreza Takhti’s involvement in the National Front and membership in its Central Council led to his being identified by SAVAK as a “dissatisfied person”. Therefore, the sports establishment, in accordance with the decision of the National Security and Intelligence Organization, prevented Takhti from training and tried in every way to prevent him from attending international sports events that were welcomed by the Iranian Students Confederation.
