Takhti’s resentment of the Pahlavi dynasty went back to his teenage years. Takhti’s father owned a natural ice cream parlour and made a living from it. But the ice cream was caught up in Reza Shah’s street-building scheme, and Takhti’s father was forced to sell the ice cream to the government for a small price. This incident bankrupted and displaced the family, forcing them to sleep in the alley for two nights. In any case, it was a bitter incident that left a very bad impression on Takhti, and he was never able to forget the painful memory of it. Especially since it was not long before his father, hurt by what had happened, fell ill and died.
Gholamreza Takhti entered political activities in 1955. He was initially a member of the Iranian People’s Workers’ Party led by Khalil Maleki and Mozaffar Baghaei, and after Maleki and Khunji split from Baghaei, he joined the Third Force Party. During the dispute between Mohammad Ali Khunji and Khalil Maleki, he joined Khunji and Hejazi after hearing the views of both sides, along with members of the Athletes’ Organisation. After the establishment of the Socialist Party, he was elected as the Deputy Secretary-General of the Socialist Party ([[Mohammad Ali Khunji|Khunji). He also worked in the party’s sports organisation with Hassan Khorramshahi (responsible for the party’s sports organisation).
