Unseen photos of Takhti’s engagement and marriage

Mohammad Belori said that an officer at the Takht Jamshid police station told him in the very first minutes of Takhti’s suicide and the discovery of his body in the Atlantic Hotel in Tehran. He continued: “I couldn’t believe that a national hero would despair of life to the point of committing suicide. At the time, there were rumors that SAVAK had killed Takhti, and if we had announced that he had committed suicide, we would have been accused of collaborating with SAVAK to hide the truth of the matter, but the truth of the matter was that his handwritten will and the tablets next to his body all confirmed that Takhti had committed suicide.

According to Belori, Takhti’s wife, Shahla Tavakoli, who came from a family with a higher economic class, repeatedly beat Takhti on various pretexts and insulted and spoke badly of Takhti’s mother and sisters. Takhti, who had a strong affection for his mother and sisters, was very upset by this. Takhti’s diary recorded that the day before the incident, Takhti’s wife had a violent fight with one of his sisters at home, and her husband told her that she had no manhood. Takhti was so upset by this incident that he left the house and went to a hotel. On the other hand, the imperial regime, which had not been able to pull Takhti towards itself to have a pro-regime orientation, had prevented Takhti from entering various stadiums. They had even entrusted several of the wrestling champions of the time, who were supposed to go to competitions with Takhti, with the task of insulting and disrespecting him.
