He initially studied at the Razavieh School and the Kermaniha School. His seminary education subsequently progressed to higher levels. Much of his education took place at the home of his maternal grandfather, Seyyed Mohammad Bagher Sultani Tabatabaei, where he continued studying religious sciences in a traditional scholarly environment.
His early seminary training involved the study of Arabic grammar, logic, jurisprudence, principles of jurisprudence, and other foundational disciplines. These subjects form the basis of traditional Shiite clerical education and prepare students for more advanced study.
Hassan Khomeini became a cleric after several years of seminary education. His religious identity became increasingly important as he assumed responsibilities associated with the preservation of his grandfather’s intellectual and political legacy.
Teaching and Scholarly Career
Hassan Khomeini’s development as a teacher began relatively early in his seminary career. Two years after entering the Qom Seminary, in approximately 1991, he began teaching introductory religious courses at the Kermaniha School.
Over the course of approximately eight years, he taught a range of classical texts used in the education of Shiite seminarians. These included Jame al-Muqaddamat, Suyuti, Mughni al-Labib, Ma’alem, Sharh al-Lum’a, Mantiq al-Muzaffar, and other traditional works.
