Mah-e Asal (Honeymoon) is a black-and-white Iranian film directed by Fereydoun Goleh and written by Goleh in collaboration with Sadroddin Elahi. Produced by Mehdi Mosibi for Sierra Film, the film belongs to the cinematic landscape of the mid-1970s and combines elements of romance, family drama, social conflict, and generational tension. Although its central story revolves around the relationship between Reza and Minoo, the film’s narrative extends beyond a simple love story. At its heart, Mah-e Asal portrays the difficulties created when personal affection confronts family authority, social expectations, economic considerations, and traditional ideas about marriage.
The film was produced in 1976 and premiered in Tehran on Thursday, March 18, 1976, corresponding to Esfand 28, 1354, as part of the special Nowruz program for 1976. It opened simultaneously in twelve Tehran cinemas belonging to the Asia Cinema Circuit and was also screened in numerous provincial cities. Its commercial release was therefore not limited to Tehran, but was designed as a broad national exhibition. After a three-week run in Tehran, Mah-e Asal was replaced at the Asia Cinema Circuit by Bi-Neshan (The Unmarked) on Thursday, April 8, 1976, corresponding to Farvardin 19, 1355.
